The combination of escalating demand for crude oil and approaching global maximum extraction, plus the need to manage greenhouse gas emissions, make the development of sustainable energy sources critical. The Carbon Plan suggests that decarbonising the economy requires a reduction in overall industry emissions of up to 70% by 2050. The seminar will present recent research results on nanocatalyst development and new hydrocracking processes to upgrading extra heavy oil, as well as integrated processes to convert advanced biofuels that are fully compatible with petro-diesel/gasoline. |
